To get work done quickly and safely, appliances like washers, dryers, dishwashers, ovens, refrigerators, & even water heaters need to be moved out of the way. First, they must be safely disconnected from water, gas, and electricity. This stops them from getting damaged and prevents accidents. Moving them clears the workspace, making it easier and safer to do the demolition or renovation. This helps the project move forward without delays.
General Safety Precautions (Apply to All Appliances):
Turn Off Power: Before disconnecting any appliance, ensure the power is completely turned off at the circuit breaker or fuse box. Verify it's off with a voltage tester.
Turn Off Water: The safest bet is to temporarily shut off the water to the property
Turn off Gas: Turning off the gas to the property is the safest protection against a device gas valve that's inoperable.
Wear Appropriate PPE: Wear safety glasses, gloves, and appropriate footwear.
Use Assistance: Many appliances may not be heavy, but still may require two people to move safely.
