Within the restoration industry, labor tracking is important for accurate project costing and billing. Crew leaders should utilize a standardized coding system to document the tasks they performed while involved with a project.
This system employs a 3 character prefix to clearly identify the project type, such as water damage (WDR) or mold remediation (MLD), followed by a 3 character suffix that specifies the precise task undertaken, like water extraction (WTX) or cleaning (CLN). A special qualifier would be added to signify what sort of conditions existed such as after business hours (A), or confined space work (C).
This coding structure ensures detailed and organized labor records, allowing for precise tracking of time spent on specific tasks within each project. This data is essential for accurate invoicing, resource management, and overall project profitability analysis.
When connecting the project name (customer) with the labor performed as well as the hours invested, management can better see where inefficiencies are, and they can develop a plan to correct.
