Decoding Contents Line Items: Maximize Your Billing Accuracy
A few things I've noticed after reviewing a couple clients contents projects. These are not necessarily just oversites, also some over-scoping. Please check the descriptions of the line items you're using. Often there will be an explanation as to what line items should accompany each line item. For example;
CPS BX (Provide box, packing paper & tape - medium size)
Includes: 1.7 to 3.5 cu. ft. box, packaging tape, and packing paper.
Excludes: Labor to pack and move boxed materials.
Note: Item should be used only when it is necessary to move material off-site for cleaning and/or storage.
No life expectancy data
***This is just the box, with no labor associated. This should be used when providing boxes for the homeowner to pack their own contents. Check the actual box size & type, as there are several variations to choose from
--------------------
CPS BXBME (Evaluate pack & inventory bric-a-brack - per Med box
Includes: Box, packaging tape, packing paper, and labor to evaluate, pack and inventory items on a per box basis.
Excludes: Cleaning. Use CGNBX* if needed.
Note: Medium size box varies per manufacturer (1.7 to 3.5 cu. ft.). May include misc. knick knacks, small figurines, collectables, etc.
No life expectancy data
***This is the box + the labor to inventory & pack a box. Again there are numerous variations to this line item associated with box size, density & type of content going in it.
---------------------
CGN BXBM (Clean bric-a-brac - per Med box)
Includes: Cleaning chemical and labor to clean and to move the box within the service provider's facility to/from the cleaning station and storage.
Excludes: Boxes, packing, tape, and labels. Use CPSBX if needed.
Note: Unbox, clean contents, and repack box. Medium size box varies per mfrs. (1.7 to 3.5 cu. ft.). Cleaning time may vary due to size and complexity of contents. May include misc. knick knacks, small figurines, collectables, etc.
No life expectancy data
***This line item is the labor & material associated with the cleaning of content. Some labor is provided to move the content from a storage location into a cleaning station and into a storage location.
--------------------
CPS LAB (Inventory, Packing, Boxing, & Moving charge - per hour)
Includes: Hourly rate for content inventory, packing, boxing, and moving.
No life expectancy data
***This is for additional labor associated, and often overlooked, with handling content. This additional labor would include: inventory, assembly & disassembly, & handling of large items such as bedding, sofas, dressers, tables & other large unboxed items. It also is used for the transportation of furniture from the house into a moving truck, hauling the content to the storage location, unloading the content into the storage, and of course, the reverse upon completion.
--------------------
CPS TR (Moving van (16' - 20') and equipment - per day)
Includes: Daily equipment charge for 16'-20' moving van (4-5 rooms), mileage charge (up to 50 miles/day), taxes, insurance, and loading equipment (hand-truck).
Note: Truck length listed is approximate size of box/packing area.
No life expectancy data
***This is the daily use of a vehicle to haul furniture, supplies, &/or production staff to and from a project. This includes the use of a hand truck, as does all variations of this line item. It only includes 50 miles per day use, so if you're driving beyond that, look for additional compensation for the distance beyond that 50 miles per day value.
---------------------
Also add line items for other consumables used. Such as, bubble wrap (CPS BWRAP), packing blankets (CPS PAD), stretch film (CPS WRAP), & if you're hauling bedding, bedding plastic bags (CPS CVMT*)
